A4 (2016)

A4 is a dance art production about, for and with young girls. The production explores questions related to identity, self-image and gender and wants to make young girls aware of their own expressions and choices. Both the workshop and the performance are led and carried out by five professional, young, female dance artists with a special interest in and experience with precisely this target group.

In the workshop, students participate in reflection, creative process and display. Ideas and material developed by the students in the workshops are taken further into the performance. The audience gets close to one performer and her personal story. Eventually, the five stories intertwine in various tableaus and recognizable situations; the classroom, the schoolyard, at a party. The audience experiences support, betrayal, competition, outsiderness, vulnerability, toughness, inadequacy, strength and courage.*
